Team success: Rob Bowden completes his doctorate in Human Geography, Policy & Development.
On 21st Feb 2025, co-director of Lifeworlds, Rob Bowden became Dr Rob Bowden with the successful defence of his thesis entitled 'Localisation and global social change: agency, intent and learning in INGO/supporter relations'.
Rob's PhD builds on Lifeworlds' longstanding work around organisational change, cultural shift and transformative learning by developing a new conceptual framework that he has called 'prefigurative learning'. We look forward to bringing this idea into our ongoing work here at Lifeworlds.
The role of imagination and forward thinking was singled out by examiners with one stating that they were left 'inspired, excited and grateful to have had the chance to be reading what has been set out to be an exceptional – and exceptionally important for the world – piece of work.'
New publication: Learning for Peace
Lifeworlds are delighted to continue our partnership with Peacemakers to design and publish their completely revised version of 'Learning for Peace'.  We supported the first book back in 2016 and now, almost 10 years on, we are publishing the new version complete with a new structure for over 140 themed activities for the primary classroom.
If you're looking to foster more peaceful individuals, classrooms and communities then this book has a wealth of ideas to support you as well as insights in to the learning for peace pedagogy and information about how to get direct support for your school.

To get a copy of Learning for Peace contact Peacemakers directly and please mention Lifeworlds.

There is launch discount for order placed before 9 April 2025.
Lifeworlds and SAPERE (Thoughtful) at the GA Conference, April 2025
Lifeworlds will be hosting a workshop at the Geographical Association (GA) Annual Conference on 17th April 2025 in partnership with SAPERE. The GA conference in 2025 is at Oxford Brookes University and its theme is 'Connected Geographies'. Our workshop description is below:
"This practical session combines the pedagogical power of P4C (Philosophy for Children) with the teaching of Geography to explore questions and concepts around ‘Connected Geographies’. We will show how philosophical enquiry develops oracy and critical thinking, and how it can enhance and enrich the geographical lens that young people require to navigate the complexity of our urgent times."
To book for the conference visit here. If you'd like to know more about connecting P4C and geography or are interested in a session in your school then contact us.
Student workshops at SOAS in London, February 2025
Lifeworlds practitioners Rosie Wilson and Rob Bowden joined up with Dr Benjamin Worku-Dix and Daniel Locke from partners PositiveNegatives to run two days of workshops for 16-19 year old students in London.
The workshops were created in support of the Stories of Migration exhibition and explored narratives of migration and mobility, providing space for students and their educators to explore their own and others' understanding of this highly relevant issue.
NEW for 2025-26: Wellbeing with Lifeworlds
Caring for ourselves and for those we learn, work and live with, is essential in these challenging and sometimes disorientating times.
Lifeworlds are pleased to be adding a new wellbeing portfolio of support for schools, organisations and community groups.

We are currently finalising our wellbeing offers and will offer these via our dedicated Wellbeing pages in the near future. If you'd like to talk to us about this in the meantime then please contact us with your details and we will arrange for one of our practitioners to get in touch to discuss your interests or needs.

Learning to Thrive... in a climate of uncertainty
This animation from a collaborative project between Lifeworlds, Positive Negatives and BOLD creates an opportunity to help start conversations about the ways in which being connected to nature can help young people to thrive. There is growing evidence that young people are concerned about the state of the natural world around them. There is also growing evidence that providing young people with opportunities to connect with nature could make a difference.  Discover the animation and explore the supporting materials on our Learning to Thrive page.
Learn with Springhead - growing minds, shaping futures
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a new partnership project in collaboration with The Springhead Trust in Dorset.  This project brings together our passion for learning outdoors, sustainability and environmental education, values, participatory approaches and wellbeing through the creation of a unique learning opportunity. Offering residential visits, day-courses and pupil sessions, Learn with Springhead represents an exciting new venture for Lifeworlds and we look forward to developing the offer further into 2025 and beyond.  To find out more about current opportunities  visit Learn with Springhead.
Community of Relational Educators - CoRE
Everything we do at Lifeworlds places relationships at the core, whether a workshop with pupils, a CPD session with teachers, or a long-term partnership collaboration.
We learn so much from these relationships and from the sharing and challenges that they can bring and we wanted to make this learning opportunity more widely available to others as part of our community interest commitment.
The CoRE is our response - a community for learners and educators interested in a wide range of relational pedagogies and approaches including values, philosophy for children (P4C), sustainability education, nature connectedness, peace education, de/colonising, global learning and more.  Find out more here.
